Set Up a Company
TL;DR; Creating a company and turning on Learn for it is a platform-owner step, not something a Company Administrator does themselves. Once it's set up, the company dashboard shows its Learn status, its departments, and an Edit action — but no way to delete a company from here yet.
Before you start
This page is for platform staff setting up a new tenant. If you're a Company Administrator looking to add a department to a company that already exists, see Departments instead — that part is self-service.
Steps
Open Customer Workspaces (under Administration in the tools menu) and select Create Company. Give it a Company Name and a TinyUrl — the URL segment the company is reachable at. Lowercase letters, digits and hyphens only, and it must be unique across the whole platform; click into the TinyUrl field after typing the name and it fills itself in. This single form creates the company and turns on Learn for it in one step.
A number of words are reserved and can't be used as a company TinyUrl — anything that is already a page of the platform, such as
admin, companies, departments, docs, learn,my,joinandcreate. The form rejects a collision with a "Reserved TinyUrl" message.Open the new company's dashboard. Under Learn Information you'll see its TinyUrl, a Tenant ID, a Learn Status badge, and Learn Since, the date Learn was turned on. Under Departments, you can jump straight into creating the company's first department, or enable an existing one.
Edit changes the company's Name and TinyUrl — nothing else lives on this form. Changing the TinyUrl changes the company's URL, so every existing link and bookmark to it stops working; the form warns you before you save.
What this doesn't do
Only a platform owner can create a company or turn on Learn for one that already exists without it — a Company Administrator's own permissions only apply inside a company that's already set up, so this step can't be self-served. A Company Administrator can, however, edit their own company's Name and TinyUrl from this dashboard.
There's no Delete for a company from the Learn dashboard. A platform owner sees the button, disabled and marked "Coming soon"; a Company Administrator doesn't see it at all. A company can only be removed today through the platform's System Management › Companies console, and only once it has zero departments.
Common issues
I'm a Company Administrator and I don't see a way to create a company. — Expected. Ask your Lupo contact to set up the company and enable Learn; once that's done, department creation and everything under it is yours to manage.
