Video Activities
TL;DR; A video activity embeds a Lupo-generated video inside a section of a course. Students press play, watch, and Lupo tracks their completion automatically. Each video activity can optionally include Ask Lupo — an AI chatbot that answers questions about the video's content.
Video is the primary activity type in most Lupo courses, and it's what the Create tools are built to feed into. You upload a PowerPoint, get a video back, and drop it into a course as a video activity.
Creating a video activity
From inside a section on a course details page, click Add Activity. You'll get a form with:
- Title — what the Student sees in the activity list.
- Description — optional context shown below the player, under About this video.
- Activity Type — select Video.
- Integration — select Internal Lupo Video.
- Video — pick a video from the dropdown of your generated videos, or paste a Lupo Video Build ID directly.
- Enable AI Q&A Chatbot — adds the Ask Lupo chat panel to this activity. It starts switched on for a new activity.
- Settings (top right) — adjust the order within the section, set an estimated duration, or mark the activity as optional.
Click Create Activity to save.
Ask Lupo: the AI chatbot
Video activities can include an AI chatbot: a chat panel titled Ask Lupo, with an "Ask a question about the video..." box. The panel appears below the video only when all three of these are true:
- the activity's Enable AI Q&A Chatbot toggle is on,
- the course's AI assistant is turned on in the course settings,
- the video has a transcript.
Instructor-led courses don't offer Ask Lupo at all. Students type questions and the AI answers from the video's transcript.
When an answer includes timestamps, they are clickable. Clicking one jumps the video to that moment and plays from there, so Students can re-watch the segment without scrubbing through the whole video.
Keep Ask Lupo on when the video is dense, covers complex material, or is something Students will want to reference after their first watch. Switch it off for short welcome videos or simple how-to content where a chatbot would feel like overkill.
The Ask Lupo panel is not the course chat. Both carry the Ask Lupo name, but they are two different surfaces and it is worth being explicit about which one a Student is looking at. The panel lives inside a single activity, below that activity's player, and only knows that video's transcript. The course also has a chat of its own: the course's Ask Lupo tab, beside Content and Details, opens it on a page of its own, and it answers across the course: its indexed videos, plus any documents and images the course uses from the Knowledge Base. Files uploaded straight into an activity, such as Student Guides, aren't part of it. A Student asking "what did we cover in module three?" needs the second one; a Student asking "what did she just say about retries?" needs the first.
How Students experience a video activity
When a Student opens a video activity, they see a standard video player with controls for play, pause, volume, and full-screen. The activity title sits in the header above the player. Below the player, a note says how playback is tracked, then the description appears under About this video if the activity has one. When Ask Lupo is available, its panel comes after that. At the bottom, Next moves to the next activity; when the next activity is in another section, the button reads Next Section followed by that section's title. Course Content returns to the course outline.
Progress tracking
Completion is recorded automatically once Lupo detects enough playback — Students don't need to click a "Mark as complete" button. Partial watch events are also captured in the activity feed so Instructors can see exactly how far someone got, even on a video they didn't finish.

The ideal workflow: Create → Learn
- Build your slides in PowerPoint with narration in the speaker notes.
- Run them through Create Video From PowerPoint.
- When the finished video arrives by email, note its Build ID or URL.
- Come back to Learn, add a video activity, select the video from the dropdown.
- Keep the Ask Lupo chatbot on, or switch it off for this video.
- Publish the course.
Everything stays inside Lupo — no uploading to YouTube, no copying files to a second platform.
